Advocate Student Ambassadors

Advocate Student Ambassadors are a team of alumni Casework Volunteers who act as representatives of Advocate at their respective universities, promoting the work of Advocate, our student casework volunteering programmes and taking part in student fundraising.

The Student Ambassadors programme is designed to be flexible to facilitate full time learning, with months off for examinations and a required commitment of eight to twelve hours per month. The Ambassador is encouraged to manage the role around their studies in a way that is convenient for them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Representing Advocate at university events
  • Assisting with Casework Volunteer recruitment, including being a point of contact for students at the Ambassador's university interested in volunteering
  • Taking part in fundraising activities at university, including the Law School Challenge
  • Supporting at Advocate events (where possible)

Student Ambassadors will also be invited to attend seminars and panel discussions with practitioners organised by Advocate during the academic year. Where possible, they will be encouraged to attend wider Advocate events and at the end of the volunteering term, subject to Government COVID-19 restrictions, Ambassadors will be invited to a celebration at our offices in London, where they will be provided with a certificate and professional reference (reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed).

The Advocate Student Ambassador position runs from September to April of each academic year, with a break for the month of January to accommodate winter examinations. Recruitment opens and closes in June each year.
