Access to justice is a big gift. This Christmas, you can double it.

What if £5 could turn into £10, £50 into £100 and £100 could become £200? We’ve teamed up with the Big Give for this year’s Christmas challenge and for one week only, from midday on Giving Tuesday (27thNovember) to midday on Tuesday 4th December, all donations made to us via the following link will be DOUBLED.

We hear from 50 new people a week, all in need of free legal help. People may be struggling to see their children, have been defrauded, or be facing an immigration or employment tribunal alone. David* is a victim of domestic violence who was forced to seek emergency accommodation. He was referred to Advocate regarding the childcare arrangements of his son, who had previously been taken into care. We matched David with a volunteer barrister who successfully represented him in court. The court decided that David would become the child’s primary carer, and that the child would have defined and chaperoned contact with his mother. This decision had a massive impact, not only on the child who has returned from care to live with his father, but also on both parents, who can enjoy a more stable family dynamic and face a more certain future.

David said:

“Many, many thanks for all the help you gave me. I find it hard to stand up for myself. If you had not provided me with a barrister I don’t know what I would have done. The barrister was absolutely marvellous and I cannot thank her enough. She was very supportive and helped tremendously in court.”

In 2019 we aim to help 1,000 people by matching them with the right expert barrister. Will you help us to give people like David the chance to stand up for themselves?

One donation, twice the impact.

This Christmas, give the gift of access to justice.
