State2Bar aims to advance the education and employability of state-educated students, both at school and university level, with a particular focus on entry to the bar for the public benefit. To that end, S2B has five main objectives: (i) equal access to opportunity; (ii) education; (iii)advocacy; (iv) promoting collaborative work; and, (v) creating a supportive community.

Role Details

Attendance: Fully remote - 4 Board meetings a year plus additional meetings as and when required.

Are you passionate about creating positive change and breaking down barriers to social mobility within the legal sector? Do you have leadership experience and a drive to make a difference in people's lives? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

State2Bar is searching for a dynamic and dedicated individual to join us as Vice Chair. As Vice Chair, you will play a pivotal role in guiding our charity's strategic direction, enhancing our impact, and championing the cause of social mobility at the bar. Your portfolio will include governance, finance and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:

● Provide strategic leadership and direction alongside the Chair and Board of Trustees.

● Oversee all charity governance.

● To manage and oversee charity finance.

● Create and implement a fundraising strategy.

● Collaborate with fellow board members to develop and implement innovative initiatives that advance our mission.

● Uphold governance standards and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Experience

● A proven track record of leadership and strategic decision-making.

● Experience in governance, preferably within the charity sector.

● Experience in fundraising.

● Passion for promoting social mobility and addressing inequalities.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

● Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.

● Ability to commit approximately 5 hours per month to board meetings and related activities.
