When Steven first approached Advocate for help, he was facing charges of burglary for rescuing 18 beagle puppies, who were living in a facility used for breeding and animal testing. Panel member Samuel March of 9KBW assisted Steven with several hearings and after a 7-day long trial, Steven was eventually found not guilty by a jury. Steven was incredibly grateful to Samuel for all his help in giving him a voice in court on this important animal welfare issue.
When Bryan came to Advocate, he was facing every parent’s worst nightmare. A final court order had stripped him of his parental responsibility, changed his child’s surname without his consent, and restricted him to indirect contact only. He was desperate not to lose his relationship with his child. Alone, and without the means to challenge the decision, Bryan turned to Advocate for help.
Leanne lived for over two years without hot water in a property that was unfit for habitation. Despite repeated complaints, her landlord refused to fix the boiler, and even attempted to unlawfully enter the property while she was inside.
