Our charitable purpose is to relieve poverty among vulnerable migrants and their dependants living in North East London and Essex by providing specialist advice and support. The core element of our work is the provision of specialist immigration advice (OISC Level 3). We also assist with housing matters and provide our beneficiaries with holistic support. We look forward to a society where all migrants are valued, respected and empowered to achieve their full potential.
Time commitment: 1-2 days per month and 4-6 Board meetings annually.
Attendance: Board meetings are a mix of in person and remote attendance, but remote attendance is always an option. Most other work would be remote.
We are looking for a lawyer who can advise the board on a range of legal matters. None of the current board members has a legal background and the only internal advice comes from the CEO, who is a qualified immigration adviser with some other legal training. The role will therefore involve facilitating the development of the charity whilst ensuring compliance with the law.
Our current priorities are to ensure the sustainability of the organisation, recruit a Volunteer Coordinator, expand our specialist (OISC Level 3) immigration advice and holistic support service, and establish partnerships with local organisations.
For anyone with the time, interest and expertise, there would be the opportunity to assist with advice in immigration, housing or community care, or to assist our PAP work.
This is a voluntary position. The Board meets at least four times per year. Meetings are normally held in our office space in Woodford Green, but may be held remotely. Reasonable expenses will be covered.
WWMS is fully committed to equality of opportunity and we welcome applications from all suitably qualified people. We encourage applications from those with lived experience similar to those of our beneficiaries.
This is a Christian initiative and we are keen to maintain our Christian ethos.
