Organisation Overview

We provide support for refugees and asylum seekers through the following activities:

· Guidance and support

· Befriending

· Language teaching

· Drop in

· Funding and organising social, sporting and educational activities

Role Details

Time commitment: 5-10 hours per week with reasonable flexibility.

Attendance: Required to attend c14 meetings of 2 hours, usually Monday evenings in Darlington. 

Role Description

· Maintaining accurate financial records and producing regular reports and accounts

· Implementing and monitoring financial procedures, ensuring statutory compliance

· Managing the organisation’s bank accounts, donations and petty cash

· Paying invoices in a timely manner

· Ensuring consistent compliance with DAR procedures

· Advising the Trustees on financial matters

In addition, as a member of the Trustee Board

· Ensuring the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

· Supporting the organisation to pursue its objects as defined in its governing document.

· Supporting the Executive Committee with key decisions relating to finance and charity activities

· Being an ambassador for the charity, supporting its goals in aiding Refugees and Asylum Seekers and lobbying relevant bodies when required

Required Skills and Experience

· Experience of managing a Finance function or operating at a senior level in a Finance capacity

· Leadership skills gained at a senior level in a commercial business or charity

· Good written and spoken English

· Collaborative, supportive and persuasive

· The ability to influence at a high level

· Approachable and sensitive to the feelings of others
