Organisation overview:
Age UK Leeds is an independent Charity that has worked across the city for 50 years. In partnership with a number of other organisations in health and social care, as well as other sectors, we have developed and are able to offer a diverse array of services that range from supporting people to settle home after a period of hospitalisation to participation in a range of social/wellbeing activities and digital drop-ins.
Central to everything that we do as a Charity is understanding the needs and wishes of older people.
As a Charity we will be guided by the needs and wishes of older people of Leeds, ensuring that what we do and how we provide support reflects their priorities, these include;
Continued independence and self-reliance
Remaining physically and mentally well
Access to locally available services that meet their needs
Being safe, including financial, emotional and personal security
Included, connected and valued within the community
Having a voice that is heard and opinions that are respected
Our Aims:
SAFE: Includes financial security as well as physical security – at home and in the neighbourhood.
WELL: Includes activity that focuses on prevention of ill-health or deterioration in health and services that are clearly aligned to the provision of health and care both acute and in the community
CONNECTED: Includes a clear focus on reducing loneliness and isolation, connecting with family, friends, and the wider community
Role Details:
To join our Trustee Board to support Age UK Leeds in achieving our strategic aims and objectives. The role is combines providing oversight from a governance/compliance perspective with support/advice and guidance, offering assistance to the Chief Executive and the Senior Management team in how we can most effectively achieve the objectives of the Charity.
Time Commitment:
The full Trustee Board meets every two months – the last Thursday of the month.
Attendance:
We alternate between in-person and remote meetings.
Required Skills & Experience:
Commitment, enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute to achieving the aim of the Charity.
An ability to engage strategically, positively and collaboratively in Board discussions and act as an ambassador for the Charity.
Strong relationship management skills and have a passion for delivering excellence.
Skills and experience of working in some of the following key areas: legal, commercial, IT, HR and organisational development, fundraising, or campaigning.
