We’re delighted to introduce the 15 amazing runners who will be taking on the 2020 London Landmarks Half Marathon on 29th March. All of them are running to raise vital funds for access to justice.

This is the second time Advocate is entering a team of runners in the only half marathon to pass through both the City of London and the City of Westminster. Our runners will take in some iconic London sights including Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Shard and the London Eye to name just a few. Paying homage to their cause, they will also loop legal London and the Royal Courts of Justice, so their motivation for the challenge will never be far from their thoughts or their feet.

Meet the runners

Ben Nakama and Benedict Morillo

Taking on the 13.1 miles together are two former Advocate Casework Volunteers. Ben and Benedict met when they both volunteered at Advocate in September and were keen to continue to support access to justice for all. Ben now works at Birnberg Peirce Ltd while Benedict is finishing up his studies at the University of Oxford. Ben’s fundraising page can be found here and Benedict’s can be found here

Edmund Gross

Ed works at Furnival Law is eager to get involved in supporting Advocate. As a keen sportsman and with a keen interest in Sports Law, taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon is the perfect way for him to do his bit for access to justice. Find Ed’s fundraising page here.

Maya Chilaeva

Maya is the judicial assistant to Mr Justice Knowles, Advocate’s Chair. She was also previously a Casework Volunteer here at Advocate and is therefore very familiar with the importance of our work. Maya’s fundraising page can be found here.

Elizabeth Wark
Elizabeth is a barrister at Three Dr Johnson’s Buildings and is no stranger to the London Landmarks Half Marathon, having taken it on last year for Gingerbread. Elizabeth previously volunteered for Advocate, back when we were the Bar Pro Bono Unit, and has taken part in other pro bono schemes. Her fundraising page can be found here.

Team 3VB

10 runners from 3 Verulam Buildings have teamed up to take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon together. The team is made up of barristers and clerks alike, all of whom are united in their support of Advocate and access to justice. As close supporters of Advocate already, they are all acutely aware of how important Advocate’s work is in ensuring that those who cannot afford legal assistance are still able to get the access to justice they deserve.

Sophia Dzwig, Sarah Tulip, James Kelly, James Ingham, Stuart Pullum, Ravi Jackson, Judy Fu, Ryan Ferro, Ben Hart and Stephen Penson make up Team 3VB. They have set up a joint fundraising page, which can be found here.

It’s a tough challenge, but our runners will be spurred on by their passion for access to justice. These runners are going the extra mile – all 13.1 of them! Please show your support by donating to their fundraising pages or coming out to cheer for them on 29th March.

If you would like to get involved in future running events, please email Sarah.
