Role Description

Vacancies for trustees/directors have arisen on the Board of The Villages’ Multi-Academy Trust. This represents an exciting opportunity for suitably skilled candidates to join the Trust Board and help shape the future direction of the Trust.

The trustees make a significant contribution to our overall aim of ‘empowering children to be secure, engaged and equipped for life.’ As well as setting the direction of our Trust, Trustees hold leaders to account and ensure financial probity. As charity trustees, they also ensure that they are complying with charity law requirements. Academy trusts are charitable companies, and the trustees are company directors and must comply with company law requirements.

The success of our Trust relies on securing high-calibre individuals with specific skills and attributes, who are committed to securing the best possible outcomes for all pupils within the two academies within the Trust. The current trustees have considerable expertise and experience in finance, human resources, education, property, marketing, and policy development. We are looking for candidates with legal expertise and experience and the ideal candidate may well other skills and attributes that would enable them to make valuable contributions to the further development of the Trust and its academies.

Required Skills and Experience:

We seek a legal mind. Academy trust work is covered by legislative requirements across a range of areas – employment, health and safety, property, education, safeguarding, data protection etc. Expertise in any of these areas would be helpful.

Experience in the sector would be particularly welcome but this opportunity may be mutually beneficial to a recently qualified, legal career entrant.

We are also seeking prospective trustees with experience and expertise in marketing, business growth and/or IT development and welcome interest from those who feel they may be able to contribute at a trustee level to our organisation’s aim to provide children in our schools with the very possible start in life.
