The Foundation is an unincorporated registered charity that is currently going through a period of transition. It has existed in different forms for more than three centuries and was established to teach practical and academic skills to equip “poor boys for trades or university”. The Trustees are now examining how to deliver the best educational outcomes for young people in Greater London.
Time commitment: Trustees are appointed for an initial term of four years. They are expected to attend trustee meetings which are currently held every two to three months. Trustees are occasionally asked to respond to email queries or discussions
Attendance: Sometimes online and sometimes in person - most commonly online at 4pm.
Acting as trustee and working with the other Trustees on the future strategy for the Foundation and the implementation of that strategy.
An applicant should be legally qualified in England and Wales and should have a sound, up to date knowledge of charity and educational law. The Trustees are not looking for a legal advisor but for a Trustee whose experience can identify when legal advice would be appropriate.
