Advocate matches members of the public who need free legal help with barristers who are willing to donate their time and expertise in deserving cases for those who are unable to obtain legal aid and cannot afford to pay.

Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Schemes and Programmes Coordinator to oversee our specialist and on-the-day duty schemes across the country and our Bar in the Community (BIC) programme, which connects volunteers from the Bar with charities in need of their expertise. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following aspects of Schemes and the BIC programme:

  • Overseeing and delivering the day-to-day administration
  • Collating data into quarterly and annual performance reports
  • Creating annual strategies
  • Engaging volunteers and stakeholders
  • Working closely with Courts, Judiciary, Chambers, the local Bar and other front-line organisations on the development and management of Schemes
  • Facilitating BIC’s Management Committee
  • Occasional travel outside of London to attend Scheme specific events and/or meetings
  • Administration of our duty schemes online rota
  • Creating tailored communications for social media and other channels

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Strong project management and coordination skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong data management and analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Proficiency in social media communications and website administration

Desirable:

  • Experience working with volunteer programmes or charities
  • Previous experience in a similar project or programme coordination role
  • Understanding of the UK Legal System and/or enthusiasm to learn
