We are delighted to be celebrating the successful completion of the pilot of the Birmingham Chancery Litigant in Person Support Scheme (“B-CLIPS”), having concluded its initial 3 month run in July this year.

Having been met with outstanding enthusiasm from volunteers at a number of local chambers, the Scheme has proven a vital support for LIPs in the Birmingham Business and Property Courts and, we are proud to say, the judiciary has approved its introduction as a permanent service.

We are also excited to share that the decision has been made to expand the remit of the Scheme to include injunctions, Part 8 claims, Financial Dispute Resolutions and any other case that is not a Final Hearing, Trial or Costs and Case Management Conference, bringing the Scheme in line with the existing CLIPS Scheme in London, and allowing us to support a wider pool of LIPs.

As ever, we are hugely grateful for the generosity of those who have volunteered through the Scheme to date and are particularly grateful for Alex Pritchard-Jones (No.5 Chambers) and Michelle Caney (St.Philips Chambers), who’s continued hard work has made this project possible.

For more information about the Scheme, or to sign up to volunteer for the next block of dates between September and December 2024, please visit our website or contact our Schemes Caseworker, Jessica, at birminghamprobono@weareadvocate.org.uk
