Hear from members of the Advocate team on why it is so important to get out there to fundraise for access to justice services.

Two-thirds of the UK population don't know how to get legal advice and 14 million people who live in poverty can't afford to pay for it. Access to justice services are under immense pressure to provide the best possible support for clients.

Advocate Team 10K - 10 July

It's not every day you commit to putting on your running shoes to run a 10K, but that is exactly what Holly James, Executive Assistant at Advocate, is doing in aid of raising money for Advocate, alongside other committed colleagues.

As Holly puts it herself...

"I am running for Advocate to support our applicants. In my time working at the organisation, I have seen first-hand just how vulnerable many of the people accessing our service are. By running 10K, I get to use my love of running to raise vital funds for those facing the legal system alone."

We want to acknowledge all of you out there who have volunteered for us throughout the country, so we are getting our running shoes on ourselves too!

London Legal Walk - 28 June

The London Legal Walk raises vital funds for Advocate, FRU and the London Legal Support Trust so that we can continue to support barristers providing vital pro bono assistance.

Hear from Shyam Popat, our Director of Casework & COO, on why it's so important to get involved...

"You never know when you will need the help of a specialist lawyer. As much as demands for free legal help increased during the Covid 19 pandemic, the cost-of-living crisis has the power to inflict a fresh wave of economic pain on people already struggling to pay food and energy bills.

Now more than ever is a time to support the advice sector so we can ensure clients can stay in their homes, stand up against discrimination and harassment in the workplace and make sure their voice is heard in Court. Advocate will be joining with thousands of others in the 2022 London Legal Walk - please support access to justice."

You can find us in our new Advocate T-Shirts at the London Legal Walk registration desks, be sure to come say hello!

Cambridge Legal Walk - 16 June

Earlier this month Jess Bates, our caseworker, joined the Eastern Legal Support Trust at the Cambridge Legal Walk. It was a great opportunity to meet with the barristers and frontline advice service providers making a real difference in the access to justice sector.

Jess reflects...

"Asides from being great fun, participating in the Cambridge Legal Walk was a brilliant way for us to strengthen our relationships with chambers outside of London and engage with the valuable pro bono work being carried out across England and Wales. We would not be able to support vulnerable applicants nationally, without the generosity and support of our volunteer barristers across the country. To come together to support such a fantastic cause has been really positive!"
